About Us
Thanks for visiting us here at the Iron Hearth Homestead. We are a husband/wife team living on 5 acres in rural(ish) Oregon.
This page is a place to share our collective skills, experience, experiments, and shenanigans in an approachable and practical way.
We believe that this lifestyle isn’t about being perfect at everything and we aim to share our trials, tribulations, triumphs, and epic fails.
Dave
Dave is a masterful carpenter, mechanic, and metal worker. He was born and raised in Oregon where he picked up generational knowledge from both sets of his parents. With his late father teaching him metal work and machining and his stepfather teaching him woodworking and construction, he was learning by proxy even before he was old enough to wield a tool. In his spare time, he can be found spending time with his incredible son (who plays in two heavy metal bands), working on his classic car, or catching up on some Zs on the couch in his epic tracksuit.

Jessicka
Jessicka is the plant enthusiast of the family. She is an herbalist, food preserver, crafter, chicken wrangler (even though she’s still a little afraid of chickens), and beekeeper for the homestead. She also works full time as a Senior Marketing Coordinator for a natural wellness company. She has written hundreds of blogs and articles for online and print publications, and teaches herbalism and natural skin care classes around the US. In her spare time, she can be found doing what she had dubbed as “meanderthaling*), or catching up on some Zs in a flowy comfy dress, alongside Dave in his tracksuit.
*Meanderthaling (Verb)
Me·an·der·thal
The act of lollygagging around, doing non-strategic, mindless, and unplanned things.
